The hamlet of Priddis is growing and needs a space for our neighbours to gather for sport, play and community. The Priddis Community Association is pursuing a capital campaign to build a new multi-purpose community centre, designed to serve this community need for decades to come.  

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional for a part time, contract position as our Development Officer to support the advancement of this million-dollar capital campaign.

 

Collaborating with the board of directors and fund development committee, the Development Officer will play an integral role in the creation and execution of development activities to secure gifts and sponsorship revenue.  The DO assumes responsibility for assigned fundraising projects and provides leadership and expertise in the development and management of fundraising strategies.

 

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated success working with sponsors and individual donors. While in the silent phase of the capital campaign, the DO will assist in securing the major gifts needed to reach the 50% goal before launching a public fundraising campaign. The position is heavily focused on directing board and committee members towards asks and cultivating prospects for major gifts. The board and committees will assist largely in prospect identification and donor stewardship and support the activities of the Development Officer.

 

Knowledge of the Priddis and MD Foothills 31 area is an asset. Candidates must have the drive to take direction and to achieve aggressive goals independently while also collaborating in a team environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Help to strengthen our case for support, naming right and sponsorship opportunities before presentation to identified community members / organizations
  • Work alongside board and committees to develop and implement strategies for identified prospects
  • Support the onboarding of capital campaign cabinet and cultivation of their prospects
  • Prepare and submit regular grant requests for support of multi-purpose building campaign
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of select materials including prospect profiles, proposals and presentations
  • Coordinate meetings with potential and current donors, prepare briefs, and send materials as needed by the committee / board members
  • Engages in the stewardship of donors as appropriate.
  • Participate in regular meetings to strategize next steps in plan

 

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines pertaining to charitable giving and understanding of best practices in fundraising and donor code of ethics
  • Previous experience in grass-roots environment, capital campaigns and leading the development of campaign committees an asset 
  • Proven experience in major gift fundraising (>$5,000) and skilled in strategy development
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal, written, and presentation) and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent research, solicitation, and cultivation skills.

 

The contract is 12 months in duration at 20 hours a week. The DO will report weekly activities to key committee members and provide monthly reports on developments within their caseload and pipeline. There is an opportunity for contract renewal upon completion.
