Position Summary:

The Regional Support Coordinator (RSC) assists the Regional Manager of the Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC, http://cbrc.net) with community engagement and consultation with stakeholders and community members in relation to the health and wellness of gay, bisexual, queer, men who have sex with men (cis or trans), and Two-Spirit (GBT2Q) men in Fredericton. Supported by local partner, AIDS New Brunswick (http://www.aidsnb.com/), the RSC will proactively reach out to stakeholders and engage in consultative processes to identify and understand the needs and services of HIV/STBBI prevention for GBT2Q men.


The successful applicant will need strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills. This position requires limited travel within Fredericton.



  • Building relationships with and conducting interviews with key informant stakeholders
  • Leading discussion groups of GBT2Q community members
  • Developing an information scan of local resources and services related to GBT2Q health and HIV/STBBI prevention
  • Compiling local data and resources to generate a regional summary report
  • Preparing reports on local knowledge related to HIV/STBBI issues and GBT2Q community based on interviews and discussion groups
  • Organizing community engagement committees of stakeholders and GBT2Q community members which will provide ongoing advice for future CBRC and AIDS New Brunswick efforts related to GBT2Q health
  • Supporting the regional manager and AIDS New Brunswick in outreach, education, and awareness efforts related to GBT2Q health and wellness with a focus on HIV/STBBI prevention (e.g. workshops, public presentations, meetings with policymakers)
  • Promoting CBRC-led initiatives when and where appropriate



  • Engagement in GBT2Q communities
  • Strong/fast typing skills
  • Baseline knowledge of GBT2Q health issues
  • Experience in conducting interviews and/or leading discussion groups
  • Access to high-speed internet and reliable laptop



  • Bilingualism
  • Formal education in health
  • Access to vehicle
  • Experience in qualitative research


Status: Part-time limited contract 7.5 to 15 hours per week. Benefits are not included.

Pay Scale: $18 to $20 per hour, based on experience (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)

Start Date: December 14, 2018

End Date: March 31, 2019 with the possibility of renewal for April to December
