Reporting to the Director, HR & Communications, the Manager, Marketing & Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of the branding, marketing and communications strategies for DIVERSEcity. With the support of two (2) Marketing Specialists will compose, edit, and manage the production of a full range of material to effectively support the growth of the organization and to convey the organization’s mission to diverse constituencies.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Develops and implements the organization’s branding strategy;
  • Produces content across various channels such as newsletters, print materials and reports to share our story and engage our community, promote our fee-based services, tailoring the content to various audiences (funders, public, donors, event audience, clients, etc.) for individual programs and overall organizational profile;
  • Coordinates and manages the development and production of communications materials for all departmental and overall organizational initiatives;
  • Drives and maintains the organization’s digital and online presence including website and social media content and is engaged/responsive real-time;
  • Works to seamlessly integrate various platforms to ensure consistency and streamlining of information and full utilization of data;
  • Event management (logistics, brand, media) whether on own or booth management;
  • Organizes online events, performing outreach and marketing, creating social sharing toolkits, managing “day of” social media and more;
  • Engages media and sources opportunities for input (i.e.: op-eds). Issues press releases, arranges interviews, and compiles press kits. Identifies and researches opportunities to promote DIVERSEcity’s mission and key messages;
  • Manages and coordinates work of the communications team including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant communications experience; digital communications experience is highly preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field;
  • Proven experience with communications research and strategy; media relations; developing content for various audiences; digital engagement best practices, professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production;
  • Skilled in writing for a variety of audiences. Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics. Strong editing and proofreading skills. The ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists;
  • Knowledge of fund-raising techniques including, but not limited to: proposal writing; sponsorship development, public relations; prospect research; donor relations and stewardship; volunteer management; and correspondence management;
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics;
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize and produce high quality work products;
  • Highly motivated, and results oriented, able to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Flexible and able to work cooperatively under pressure;
  • BC Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle;
  • Ability to travel up to 10%;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends, for various events as required.
