Opportunity Summary

The Therapeutic Supervised Access Worker provides safe and supportive supervision, monitoring, and transportation between parents and their children, where there are concerns for physical, psychological or emotional safety.


Available Opportunities:

  • 1 Permanent, 35 hours (second language required; Cantonese/Mandarin preferred)
  • Various Temporary Casual Positions

The Thereauptuic Access Supervised Worker will:

  • Schedule, supervise, and report parent-child interactions in a safe, secure and supportive environment.
  • Provide consistent and safe transportation services for children and youth with behavioural challenges and developmental disabilities.
  • Enable children and families to promote, strengthen, and nurture appropriate, positive relationships with one another.
  • Report all parent-child interactions for safety and appropriateness.
  • Set up visit space with age-appropriate activates; mindful of the child’s development stage.
  • Assess and intervene during visits should any safety concerns arise.
  • Effectively communicate with family members and social workers.
  • Model appropriate childcare practice with reference to play, napping, personal care, and eating routines (when directed by Social Worker).
  • Provide teaching and guidance to parents (when directed by Social Worker).
  • Provide timely reports and be prepared to testify about this in court, if necessary.
  • Maintain files in accordance with the accreditation standards.
  • Work with families with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Work with at-risk and marginalized families within the community.
  • This position may involve flexible hours including evenings, weekends and stat. holidays to accommodate the needs of clients.
  • Conduct other duties as required. 


What you bring to WFC

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in an area of study relevant to social/human service (eg. Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, etc…)
  • Knowledge of child development, positive parenting and family dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict.
  • An understanding of integrated case management is an asset
  • Bilingual or Multilingual is an asset (Cantonese/Mandarin preferred)


Working conditions

  • Family-friendly culture and environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends is required.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and use of own car required.
  • Maintain current First Aid and Non-Violent crisis intervention certificate.
  • Clear Criminal Record and Drivers Abstract.
