The Epic Everyday service stream provides daytime supports to people focusing on; the participation in and contribution to community events and social occasions; developing personal networks for people supported and connect with other community members; participation in self-development workshops; accessing resources for peoples skill development, including literacy, athletics and the arts.

 

The Senior Manager  is responsible to provide overall leadership to our Disability Support Worker team in our Epic Everyday service stream. This position includes ensuring outcome oriented, person centred  services for people served by Epic Opportunities. They monitor and evaluate the achievement of these outcomes and provide coaching and mentorship to the staffing team. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring, providing orientation, training, and performance management. In addition to these leadership requirements the Senior Manager also performs administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, budgeting, and other financial responsibilities.

 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Person Directed Outcomes:  Initiate the gathering of information needed, from  people we serve and their support networks, to gain an understanding of strengths, needs and goals.  Use this information to develop formal support plans that outline steps to achieving personal outcomes.  Enlist the person’s support team to develop, implement and monitor service delivery; making changes as needed to enhance the quality of service.  Use formal and informal assessments to evaluate, monitor and modify services to ensure the overall accomplishment of the goals outlined throughout this process.  Lead the entire process of holistic person centred planning with an emphasis of empowering the person to be self-directed.
  2. Human Resource Management:  Responsible for assessing and setting priorities in regards to human resource needs within the service areas assigned.  Supervise staffing teams and oversee service delivery schedules and approve corresponding payroll, delegate service delivery tasks, provide feedback and support and investigate and address concerns or issues.  Play an active role in interviewing and selecting potential employees,  provide orientation and training as well as schedule and conduct regular performance reviews for all employees.  Ensure implementation and compliance with organizational policies and procedures, The Vulnerable Person’s Act and other applicable legislation.
  3. Employee Development:  Provide leadership to employees by implementing strategies that foster on-going opportunities to learn, grow and develop.  Provide on-site supervision to employees and role model the supports required for each person served.  Place emphasis on teaching, coaching and mentoring in order to develop and strengthen skills in supporting people to pursue and achieve their life goals.  Provide formal and informal feedback to each person on the team in order to recognize successes, develop goals for improvement and monitor progress in overall performance.  Initiate progressive discipline as required. Identify and implement resources that will benefit employees in fulfilling their roles.  Schedule and facilitate regular staff meetings to focus on team building, consistency in support strategies and an emphasis on the fulfillment of the person’s goals, interests and needs.
  4. Communication and Relationships:  Build and maintain positive working relationships with families and support networks.  Communicate necessary information to ensure holistic supports are present.  Develop and foster trusting relationships with various stakeholders, community members and agency partners.  Initiate and utilize effective communication with all stakeholders including the people we serve, the team of staff and community at large.  Ensure interactions demonstrate value for all people at all times.  Be willing to engage in difficult conversations with respect for all people involved.  Make sure that all practices meet legal and ethical standards related to confidentiality, professional conduct and practice.
  5. Advocacy:  Promote the concept of inclusion and full community participation.  Support each person served to seek out and achieve valued roles within community.  Initiate regular feedback from each person served and their support network to ensure representation of their best interests and needs.  Ensure that the person served has a voice, is heard and that they are provided with tools and resources needed to exercise their rights.
  6. Administration:  Ensure that all required financial documentation is completed and remitted in a timely manner, reporting discrepancies according to policy.  Ensure completion and secure storage of records and documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures and Provincial requirements.  Ensure that all food, medications and equipment is properly stored, maintained and safely used.  Ensure that safe work practices are followed according to policy.  Recognize and report all concerns of abuse or neglect.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Sciences and / or Disability and Community Support Diploma is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist vulnerable people in achieving personal outcomes
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory position related to services for persons with and intellectual disability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community living.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen, understand, problem solve and respond to various situations.
  • A current Manitoba Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle (required).
  • Current First Aid certification.

Successful applicant for this position will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and both a Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check upon hire at their own expense (in light of long processing times for these checks we encourage applicants to apply early – this will reduce wait time to begin employment).

 

Salary $33,280 – $41,475 per annum, depending on qualifications & experience. Competitive benefits package available.
