About the Northside Community Centre:

The Northside Community Centre (NCC) marks a new direction for The City of Red Deer. The NCC is not intended to be a typical multi-use regional recreation centre or a traditional activity centre but rather a ‘hybrid’ of these - a new format multi-quadrant community centre focused on community leisure, culture, recreation and gathering, serving the city-wide population while also serving the needs of those who live nearby.

The programs that will be delivered at this facility are intended to be inclusive and welcoming to people of all diversities. Programming for Northside Community Centre will reflect the large number of families within the area and involve an emphasis of programming for children, youth and families, as well as opportunities for rental groups.

 

About this Job Role (Centre Manager):

The Centre Manager is responsible for leading and demonstrating exceptional customer service and program delivery with an emphasis on relationship building, coaching and development.

Accountabilities: The Centre Manager is a member of the Leadership Team and is directly accountable to the Vice President of Health, Fitness and Aquatics. The Centre Manager also represents the YMCA of Northern Alberta with peers in the Red Deer community services environment, fosters relationships with other local community program providers and service delivery partners and supports the integration and alignment of the staff and services with the vision and mission of the YMCA of Northern Alberta.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’S):

  • Outstanding Participant growth and retention.
  • Excellent program development and program service delivery and facility management.
  • Impactful community engagement and fundraising.
  • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with YMCA staff, volunteers and members, as well as with community partners, stakeholders and program participants.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all participant growth, and retention.
  • Recruit and manage all staff and volunteers within program and service areas.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to program service delivery, meeting YMCA Quality Service Standards, and ensuring future directions meet the needs of program participants and the community.
  • Create and execute annual business plans for the Centre with specific targets and activities.
  • Meet and/or exceed participant and program participation targets.
  • Ensure all branch targets are met for the annual YMCA fundraising campaign, including volunteer recruitment, donor and financial targets.
  • Develop, manage and monitor approved budgets to ensure sustainable operations and the achievement of financial targets.
  • Uphold the Association’s commitment to the health, safety and security of its staff, volunteers and members. Identify risks and ensures appropriate measures are taken to mitigate risks.
  • In co-operation with the Vice President of Capital Projects and Facility Operations, assist with the operational implementation of Centre capital and refurbishment projects.
  • Foster, establish and maintain effective community relationships and partnerships.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • University Degree in a Human Services, Recreation or related field.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR-C, are assets.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector search which must be provided prior to commencement.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 of years of leadership/management experience in a related sector, which includes recruitment and retention of staff, volunteers and members.
  • Experience with planning and implementation of innovative and quality program serving children, youth and adults.
  • Proven track record with community collaboration, building and maintaining effective relationships and philanthropy including fundraising and volunteer recruitment.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow program participation, satisfaction and retention.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a budgeting, program delivery and general financial management.
