Position Summary:

PCRS requires a program employability facilitator/job developer for the This Way Ahead training program in Surrey, Vancouver and New Westminster. The successful applicant will be responsible for employment counselling of program participants, organizing and delivering the life and employability skills workshops, supporting participants in their internship with GAP Inc., and promoting the program within the community. The successful applicant will also be responsible for coordinating and supervising a number of volunteers throughout the program, as well as liaising with stakeholders and funders of the program. This position requires the ability to work with international partner cities, providing a mentoring role to new and existing This Way Ahead programs throughout North America. This position will be responsible for meeting the specific targets and outcomes set by the funders, maintaining consistent records and tracking data to report out on the program participants to both funders and PCRS Management.


Required Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities:

This position requires a high level of skill as a facilitator; creating, updating and maintaining PowerPoint slides as well as keeping workshop material relevant and up-to-date. This role requires a sound understanding of employment and life skills facilitation with at-risk youth and multi-barrier populations.


Extensive knowledge of Employment Training Programs and experience working with large for-profit organizations is required. The familiarity of GAP Inc. corporation and different brands within is required, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships within the GAP Inc. organization. Understanding the process of interviewing and screening potential candidates is an asset.


This position requires a high level of self-motivation and independent thought, as well as a need for a strong ability to connect with the community for the purpose of marketing and branding of the program. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of labour market information and creating strong resumes and cover letters. A high degree of emotional intelligence is required, as well as a natural ability to connect with at-risk youth and maintain engagement throughout the program.


This position requires the ability to work evenings facilitating a large group of youth, as well as volunteers. The successful candidate will have an understanding of program budgets and how to manage the budget in a fiscally responsible manner.


Academic and Job Experience Required:

B.A. or a degree in a related field; Career development practitioner certificate plus three-year related experience.


Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
  • Standard first aid certificate and CPR
  • Valid Driver license and vehicle with business insurance (Paid Mileage)


Desired Requirements:

  • Personality dimensions certificate
  • Familiarity with employment assessments
  • Motivational interviewing and solution-focused counselling
  • Life and employability coaching as well as understanding the impacts of trauma, addictions and family systems.
  • Training and experience using database software to maintain accurate client records.

Salary Range:     $23.31/hour – $26.53/hour, Plus benefit package (100% employer paid)
