The BC Wildlife Federation (BCWF) is the leading conservation organization in BC.  As a province-wide non-profit charitable association with over 43,000 members and more than 100 Member Clubs, our organization represents the interests of all British Columbians whose aims are to conserve and protect BC’s fish, wildlife and habitat for present and future generations. 


We are currently searching for a Finance Assistant to work closely with the Manager of Finance and Administration, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.  All revenue streams should be reconciled with the accounting software to Raiser’s Edge CRM to ensure the accuracy of information for the BCWF members, supporters and sponsors.  All payables must be approved and coded against budget


Duties and Responsibilities will include:


Accounts Payable (Quickbooks)

  • Matching invoices to purchasing orders or obtain required approvals.
  • Matching credit card statement to receipts.
  • Calculate departmental costs and code according.
  • Enter invoices and in QuickBooks.
  • Process expense reports, checking for approval and accuracy.
  • Run cheques, obtain signatures and send cheques.
  • Vendor statement reconciliations.

 Accounts Receivable (Quickbooks and Raisers Edge)

  • Ensure all cheques and cash are deposited to the bank.
  • Enter all cash receipts into Quickbooks from Raisers Edge batch reports, merchandise software reports, Gifttool and other miscellaneous deposits.


  • Monthly reconciliation of revenue accounts to Raiser’s Edge.
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Enter journal entries when necessary.
  • Assist with gaming reports.
  • Assist with Wetlands accounting based on project grants.
  • Provide support for year-end annual audit and inventory count.
  • Provides administrative support at special events and other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 1 - 3 years experience in accounting.
  • Charity/Non-Profit experience is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High level of typing accuracy and speed (Minimum 50 wpm).
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including superior customer service attributes, a professional demeanor and a positive attitude.
  • Must be extremely well organized, analytical, flexible and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter, capable of working within a dynamic, multi-faceted team environment.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of transactions.
  • Must be able to keep strict confidentiality and sign an oath of confidentiality.
  • Strong personal alignment with BCWF’s mission, goals and values.
  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge is a plus, or similar database software.


  • Post-secondary education or formal training in accounting.
  • Certificates accounting database or computer systems.
  • Training with Raiser’s Edge Database software.


This is a permanent full-time position and our offices are conveniently located close to Hwy 1 and the Golden Ears Bridge.  Occasional evenings, weekends and extended hours will be required to accommodate activities and events of the association.
