We are seeking Intensive Adult Residential Care Worker’s for permanent part-time positions. The successful candidates will work every week at our House 4 residence. House 4 is a home in Ladner with 4 adults with a dual diagnosis. Each person served receives one to one staffing. You will ensure the well-being and promote the development of persons served. You will assist with their physical, social, emotional, educational and recreational needs. You will promote greater community interdependence and personal dignity. A result-oriented person that works well with a team to obtain the desired outcomes is required. An understanding of complex behaviour, autism spectrum disorder and dual diagnosis is essential for this position. These are union positions with comprehensive benefits packages that pays $19.03 - $22.18 per hour.


The successful candidate:

  • Has completed education at a degree, diploma or certificate level that includes training in developmental disabilities, autism and mental health disorders and dual diagnosis.
  • Has eighteen months of practical experience.
  • Is effective in both a group and one-to-one setting.
  • Understands behavioural guidelines and incident reporting procedures.
  • Practices good organizational and time management skills.
  • Remains empathetic and supportive of the individuals we support and co-workers.
  • Applies their working knowledge of community and provincial based programs including the theory, principles and practices of the field.
  • Is able to meet the employment requirements of the society.
  • Has the ability to use a computer for log notes and other forms of documentation.
  • Current unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license must be obtained within 3 months of employment.
  • Must be able to work with people with dual diagnosis.
  • Must be able to follow behaviour support/care plans.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team within a high stress environment.
  • Other assets: 
  • ABA training
  • Specialized training in Autism
  • Other experience working with people with mental health disorders
  • An understanding of the complex behaviour that can occur when a person with a developmental disability also has a mental health diagnosis.
