Location: Delta Salary: $19.45-$22.65

We are seeking a Community Support Worker on a Temporary basis. The person will work 21 hours per week at Surrey Connections. You will contribute to the development of a personal life plan promoting well-being and personal development. You will assist with physical, social, emotional, educational and recreational needs, and provide support in a manner that promotes greater community interdependence and personal dignity. You have the ability to work independently while integrating opportunities and building relationships with the team and in the community. A result-oriented person that works with others to obtain the desired outcomes is required. You are enthusiastic about providing direct program delivery. This position is open to male and female applicants.


The successful candidate:

    • Demonstrates a solid understanding and practice of Person Centered Thinking.
    • Adheres to the Society’s Service Principles, policies and procedures.
    • Communicates effectively in both written and verbal formats.
    • Provides excellent supports and is fully engaged with persons receiving support in both a group and one-to-one setting.
    • Creatively adapts to the support needs required
    • Understands behavioural guidelines and incident reporting procedures.
    • Practices good organisational and time management skills.
    • Remains empathetic and supportive of the individuals we support and co-workers.
    • Has met the employment requirements of the Society.
    • Uses outcome-based performance for the individuals we support and for themselves.
    • Is knowledgeable of acts, regulations and programs.
    • Applies their working knowledge of community and provincial based programs including the theory, principles and practices of the field.
    • Has completed an education in Human Sciences at a degree, diploma or certificate level.
    • Has good computer knowledge including word processing and PLP.
    • Current unrestricted class 4 driver’s license.
    • Use of personal vehicle is required.
    • Must be able to assist people with using public transit
    • Physically able to participate in walking & lifting.
    • Ability to swim.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours would be an asset.
    • Comfortable working with persons who communicate primarily nonverbally.
    • Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorder and be able to follow a behaviour support plan.
    • Must be physically able to assist with pushing wheelchairs, assisting people personal care, feeding, pushing wheelchairs on and off public transit.
