Employment Services

Full-time / 1 year contract with possibility of renewal / Starting ASAP / North

 

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Provide individual employment counselling and facilitate employment workshops in the office and in the community
  • Assess client needs and develop service plans that demonstrate the coordination of appropriate interventions to support employment goals, specifically for Newcomers
  • Demonstrate an outcome-focused case management ability; promoting Employment Ontario Services, and identifying and supporting opportunities for itinerant services in the community
  • Provide clients with information and referral services, discussion, and administration of Second Career applications
  • Maintain complete client case files in compliance with the Employment Ontario model requirements; monitor clients’ progress with ongoing follow-up
  • Coordinate provision of services with the Job Development team; effectively assess clients’ motivation, reliability and dependability
  • Assist participants with the use of computers, the Internet, social media and other tools for further career training and job search
  • Knowledge of current local labour market trends, community services and resources across the GTA and specifically in the Jewish community
  • Working knowledge of the EOIS and CAMS system

Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Career Counselling or Social Services, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively deal with many personality types; sensitivity to diversity
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position

Our ideal candidate will also have:

  • Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure
  • Certification from a Career and Work Counsellor Program
  • Certification from an institution such as VRA Canada or ICCI
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to your own vehicle as some travel will be required for this position
  • A good understanding of the Jewish culture and traditions; fluency in Hebrew and / or Russian
  • Post graduate certificate in Career Counselling or Social Services
