We are looking for a dynamic, caring, and innovative individual for this role. The Associate Director, Human Resources leads Tides Canada’s workplace culture and people initiatives that support the organization’s mission, vision and business strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Director, HR will provide hands-on guidance and support in relation to the creation, implementation and continuation of HR programs that meet the needs of employees located in various Provinces and Territories. The Associate Director is also responsible for providing leadership and support to a team of HR professionals.  

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as a trusted influencer and advisor on people and workplace culture initiatives
  • Provide leadership and guidance on HR programs which include: attraction & recruitment, onboarding, performance partnerships, compensation & benefits; health & safety, learning & development, supervisory training, diversity & inclusion, and employee engagement
  • Accountable for leading, coaching and developing a talented HR team
  • Provide employee relations advice tailored to employees working in various Provinces and Territories that aligns to Federal and Provincial legislation
  • Coach and influence managers at all levels of the organization to support a positive and professional workplace
  • Lead employee diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of HR support
  • Identify and address issues that affect the overall health of the organization e.g. morale, effectiveness and turnover
  • Create human resources forecasts for future organizational changes and needs that are based on internal and external research
  • Plan and provide organizational development strategy and direction
  • Develop reports that measure and analyze of personnel activities regarding benefit costs, staffing levels/deployment, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, applicant tracking, compensation and promotions
  • Develop and manage the human resources budget
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate human resources strategies, including policies, programs, and procedures
  • Provide hands-on HR support, services and advice as required
  • Additional duties as required

 

Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience across multiple HR disciplines including: attraction & recruitment, employee relations advising, federal and provincial employment compliance, compensation, health & safety, diversity & inclusion, performance partnership, learning & development, and employee engagement
  • Experience working in a diverse and progressive organization, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
  • Passionate and caring HR leader with experience developing and executing people strategies
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to manage diverse and competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Strong IT skills with knowledge of HCM systems being an asset
  • Personal integrity, high professional standards, and an ability to establish mutual accountability and respect
  • Creative and able to take on multiple perspectives and provide innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to challenge and be candid while maintaining strong relationships
  • Degree and/or certification in a Human Resources discipline
