Position Description

In collaboration with and reporting to the Director of Youth Services, the Youth Development Worker leads the development and execution of strategies to build vocation development modules while visiting youth regularly in the neighborhood. The Youth Development Worker is a hands-on youth worker who creates and implements strategic plans that are aligned with the Youth Services’ goals and objectives, including adult and youth volunteer recruitment.


Primary responsibilities



  • Lead and coordinate youth volunteer program;
  • Lead and coordinate tutoring program;
  • Lead, plan and execute vocation development modules


  • Recruit adult volunteers for programs and mentorship;
  • Volunteer in local high schools to meet with youth in our neighborhood;
  • Support other ongoing youth programs via participating the program, making visits, or backing as requires;
  • Connect with participants/volunteers and collect feedbacks for program improvements;
  • Coordinate with 105 Gibson internal services and local organizations for youth development opportunities
  • Set up, execute and coordinate booth for promoting Gibson youth programs in schools and appropriate institutes and organizations


  • Maintain database of our participants/volunteers and generate report regularly;
  • Execute administrative work related to the youth services programs
  • Execute ad hoc duties as assigned by the Director of Youth Services


Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities and Personal Characteristics



  • Undergraduate degree with a youth work or social work focus or educational equivalent



  • 2 years’ or more on related work experience, including team management
  • Experience in a not-for-profit and/or faith-based setting, preferred
  • Experience in developing pilot initiative preferred
  • Social media and online communications experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven understanding of community youth work;
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and public speaking skills
  • Strong team leadership skills and experience in developing youth and volunteers
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, project management, direct marketing and budget management
  • Ability to achieve administrative responsibilities on time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong capability with computers, office software, and database management
  • Fluent in spoken Cantonese and Mandarin and proficient in written Chinese preferred
  • Able to drive and have own vehicle
