The Position:
The T.A.N.G. Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of strength-based programming for youths between eleven and fifteen years old. Learning opportunities and interactive activities are centered around Search Institute’s Developmental Asset Framework. This position reports to the Youth Program Supervisor.



Research and develop programs for youth

- Assess the requirements of youth in the community
- Ensure a variety of workshops, recreational, cultural opportunities are implemented
- Identify areas where new programs are needed


Plan and implement activities for youth

- Schedule activities, facilities, and volunteers as required
- Supervise and lead activities for youth
- Recruit, train and oversee volunteers
- Monitor the use of equipment and facilities


Promote youth programs

- Ensure that youth and youth organizations are aware of available activities
- Work with different cultural communities offsite to promote youth programs
- Arrange for advertising of youth programs
- Ensure program information is available to staff and parents


Administer youth programs

- Prepare a plan for youth activities
- Work offsite to run programs if required
- Manage the youth program budget
- Provide yearly reports on inputs and outputs
- Ensure that all programs and activities are implemented according to relevant
guidelines, policies, and procedures


Supervise other program staff

- Monitor performance of staff to ensure efficient functioning

- Perform other related duties as required


Qualifications and Skills:
- Post-secondary graduate in Education, Physical Education, and Recreation, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or the equivalent of experience and education
- Experience planning and delivering strength-based programs to children and youth
- Stress and time management skills
- Coordinating, communicating, and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English
- Demonstrate strong leadership and teambuilding abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Be honest, trustworthy, and respectful
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Be flexible
- Demonstrate good work ethics
- Being active and able to swim is beneficial
- Access to a vehicle is an asset
- Possess current first aid certificate
