About the West Nipissing Arts Council
The West Nipissing Arts Council – CANO is a not for profit organisation that was founded in 2009 in Sturgeon Falls (Ontario) that specialises in the production of professional concerts. CANO presents a varied program of music, theatre, humor, and varieties.
The CANO predominantly serves a francophone and Francophile clientele within West Nipissing all while creating an inclusive and welcoming programming that invites anglophones and First Nations people within our municipality to participate in our concerts and cultural activities.
The CANO annually presents roughly thirty concerts and/or cultural activities for everyone.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING INTERN
Description
Working closely with the C.E.O and artistic programming director, the chosen candidate will have the opportunity to take on many roles and to support the team with the main activities within the programming and to assist in the promotion and commercialisation of events and activities.
Main responsibilities
• In collaboration with the C.E.O, the intern will plan press relations surrounding the events (press releases, interviews, media relations, etc…)
• Creating and coordinating communication tools that will facilitate the promotion and the development of events.
• Developing, coordinating and managing the volunteer and partner records
• Preparing the client list and sending invitations, as well as creation of promotional e-mails and newsletters. Responsible for invitations and RSVP follow-ups (via Cyberimpact)
• Brainstorm, plan, and publish content for the newsletter and social media accounts.
• In charge of creation, graphic design, and updates of promotional documents and of their production.
• Helps the C.E.O and his team in the coordination of activities (concerts, creation workshops, etc) in what relates to communications and marketing, as well as development of financial and potential partners.

Required qualifications and skills
• Have a college or university diploma in the field of communications and marketing and graphic design, or a connected field; or equivalent;
• Bilingual in French and English (speech and writing). (Obligatory);
• Good organizational sense, and can manage multiple projects at once, sometimes on tight deadlines;
• Adept in Microsoft Office programs
• Has an expertise in coordination and production of communication tools and of marketing (printed and digital);
• Demonstrates experience with the usage of social media accounts and digital communications in general. Knowledge of Adobe Software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and printing requirements an asset;
• Experience in maintaining a website (use of management tools such as WordPress) and social Media (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, LinkedIn);
• Knowledge and programming of websites and Word Press, a major asset;
Job Conditions
• The person must absolutely have received their diploma within the last three (3) years;
• The employment must give the intern, their first job in the field;
• Length of contract: 52 weeks / 35h per week;
• Annual salary: 30,000$;
• Beginning of contract: beginning of August;
• Must be flexible to working evenings and/or weekends if needed;
• The chosen candidate must have a driver’s licence;
