About the Role

 

Working with the Senior Manager, the Employer Relations Officer is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to grow and deepen IEC-BC’s relationships with employers, the incumbent will proactively develop and implement strategies to connect employers to immigrant talent through our various programs and employer learning initiatives.  

 

Reports to: Senior Manager, Programs & Stakeholder Relations or Senior Manager, Workforce Development.

 

Scope of Responsibilities

 

Program Delivery

  • Develop and implement an employer engagement strategy and achieving annual targets.
  • Develop work plans for the ongoing progress and execution of employer relations deliverables.
  • Implement targeted strategies to increase employer utilization of IEC-BC programs and resources to connect employers to immigrant talent.
  • Liaise with industry and business associations, including Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade to create new leads and promote IEC-BC programs and resources to employer members.
  • Lead the planning and activation of employer connections events.
  • Convene and provide support and direction to project teams, as needed.

 

Employer and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate IEC-BC Employer Advisory Committee.
  • Strategically identify and build relationships with employers to help them achieve agreed upon goals.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in related committees/working groups, as assigned.
  • Represent IEC-BC at networking events and other business-related forums.
  • Fulfill speaking requests and give presentations on behalf of IEC-BC, as assigned.

 

Administration

  • Prepare all progress reports for funders, Board and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage budgets specific to activities and contracts.
  • Process and track budget expenses.
  • Input and track all contacts in our Customer Relationship Management system (SugarCRM).

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Manager or CEO.

 

About You: Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Diploma or degree, preferably in Business Administration or Marketing or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a business-development or customer-service role in a business/industry environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the BC/Canadian labour market.
  • Experience working with BC employers and industry/business associations.
  • Facilitation and/or public speaking experience.
  • Experience working in a small team setting an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to start and manage a variety of tasks without ongoing direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet timelines and work within budgets.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft computer applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management systems, SugarCRM or others is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and across a wide range of cultural and community contexts.
  • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours when required.
  • Awareness of the issues faced by immigrants in finding appropriate employment.
