Facilitator, Enhancing Safety of International Students’ Project

DEPARTMENT:

Family and Settlement Services

 

POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Manager of Violence Prevention Programs, the Enhancing Safety of International Students’ Project Facilitator will develop, implement and deliver sexual violence prevention information, legal education, and safety resources to international students and service providers in Metro Vancouver, Prince George, Kelowna, Terrace and Penticton.  This position requires a strong understanding of the social, cultural, linguistic, economic and lived realities and values of international students who may be victims of sexual assault and/or may be impacted by sexual violence.  Must possess an understanding of the dynamics of abuse and power imbalances between men and women.  

 

The Enhancing Safety of International Students’ Project Facilitator will develop and deliver sexual violence prevention workshops for international students; and prevention training for service providers, staff and personnel of academic institutions to increase their awareness on supporting victims of sexual violence and assault.  The Facilitator will work collaboratively through an Integrated Services Approach with MOSAIC’s Programs and staff, and external stakeholders to successfully develop and implement sexual violence prevention initiatives.   

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·     A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field, or combination of relevant education, training and experience and project development

·     Experience working in the anti-violence sector and sexual violence; knowledgeable about the justice systems, immigration processes and resources

·     Knowledge about the dynamics of gender-based violence; anti-violence sector; trauma informed practice; community resources, programs and services

·     Strong presentation, group facilitation and organizational skills

·     Experience in developing and delivering workshops, trainings and presentations

·     Knowledgeable about the impact of sexual violence on victims from diverse backgrounds and ability to be empathetic and sensitive

·     Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·     Flexibility/adaptability

·     High degree of self-awareness and commitment to self-care

·     Good communication skills in verbal and written English language

·     Proficiency with standard office equipment and software applications

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

·     Reliable transportation is an asset

·     Additional languages an asset

 

OTHER REQUIREMENT:

·     Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check

HOURS:

28 hours per week

 

   STARTING PAY:

$22.49 – 23.86 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

 

TERM:

The contract will end on June 30th, 2020
