Nova Scotia Association of Women’s Centres Connect unites the nine community-based women’s centres in Nova Scotia. Connect is a strong, supportive, collective, feminist voice on issues of concern to women and adolescent girls. Connect’s feminist advocacy for public policies advances the equity and equality of women and girls. 

 

Job Description:  Your main responsibilities will be to coordinate the activities and effectively maintain the public profile of Connect. On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to organize meetings, promote the organization, support sub-committee work, provide reports and briefs, maintain policies/procedures, develop and maintain strategies, communicate with members and partners, conduct research, write grant proposals, carry out advocacy, and maintain community and government partnerships.  To achieve this, you will be working independently, with the Connect Steering Committee, and with external partners. Your work will enable Connect to challenge the oppression of women and advocate for social change.

 

Requirements and Qualifications: You will be a collaborative self-starter who is motivated and willing to take initiative in various tasks.  You will have a combination of education and experience and will have 3-5 years of experience working from an intersectional, feminist lens. Experience in governance and the not-for-profit sector will be an asset. You will have demonstrated strong skills in time management, organization, communication, research, writing, facilitation, public speaking, professionalism, partnerships, and information technology, including email, Microsoft Office, website management, social media, etc. and will be willing to work based in HRM, with regular travel throughout HRM, and occasional travel across Nova Scotia. A criminal record check, with vulnerable sector search, and child abuse registry check will be required.

 

Compensation: This is a 30 hours/week, permanent position, compensated at $27/hour.
