CCSS is seeking a dynamic and effective person to expand and enhance existing relationships, partnerships and opportunities to meet the needs of children, youth and families in our community. You are a leader, motivator and have proven success in managing, and developing capacity within people, organizations and in the community. Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be put to use as part of a dynamic team working to make a difference though supporting children, youth and families. You are comfortable networking/promoting the organization and have proven success in developing and maintaining relationships. Along with real program delivery experience in your portfolio you are recognized for your ability to support team members and staff you supervise to succeed. You will be providing support as the Manager of Programs and Services in a maternity leave role. A competitive salary and benefits package will be available to the right candidate.

 

Summary
A degree in social work, child and youth care or the social sciences (preference will be given to Masters Level Candidates). At least three years previous managerial and administrative experience is required in an NGO environment. Additional education and experience in the management of staff, volunteers, and community development. A proven understanding of program development, implementation, evaluation and promotion within the sector is required. You bring an ability to develop and write project proposals, respond to proposal calls and develop and obtain funding for projects and activities. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to expand community partnerships and is comfortable working independently and in groups. The ideal person is a self starter and leads by example.

 

General Skills and Abilities
The manager must possess the following:
• Ability to research, assess and communicate findings and priorities for services;
• an ability to plan, develop, deliver and mentor staff and volunteers through to success;
• an understanding of outcomes, evaluation and quality assurance practices and tools;
• well developed written communication skills, specifically as it relates to writing proposals, providing reports and communicating with funders and partners;
• demonstrated leadership, managerial and administrative skills;
• an understanding of social services programs and issues as they relate to our community, agency and program goals;
• ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and reports relating to programs and departments;
• well developed interpersonal skills that include solid communication and conflict resolution competencies;
• confident and comfortable being a spokesperson, and promoter of the agency, programs, services and successes in our community;
• strong organizational skills and ability to use a variety of tools and computer programs in your daily work; and
• the ability to work as part of an effective team with CCSS staff, volunteers, consultants and community professionals.

 

Additional Information
Staff are expected to practice in a culturally sensitive manner. A second language is an asset for this position. Staff are required to have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle for this position. The position includes employer paid Medical, extended benefits (dental, life insurance/LTD) and access to an RRSP/Pension plan subject to a probationary period.
