The Supervised Access Worker provides safe and supportive supervision, monitoring, and transportation between parents and their children, where there are concerns for physical, psychological or emotional safety.

The Role of a Supervised Access Worker will:

  • Schedule, supervise visits, and report on all parent-child interactions during visits.
  • Provide consistent and safe transportation services for children and youth with behavioural challenges and developmental disabilities.
  • Enable children and families to promote, strengthen, and nurture appropriate, positive relationships with one another.
  • Report all parent-child interactions for safety and appropriateness.
  • Set up visit space with age appropriate activates; mindful of the child’s development stage and ensure a safe, secure and supportive environment.
  • Assess the physical state of the home and support parents with house management goals.  
  • Assess and intervene during visits should any safety concerns arise.
  • Effectively communicate with families and assist families connect with resources in the community.
  • Provide childminding when required and model appropriate childcare practice with reference to play, napping, personal care, and eating routines.
  • Provide teaching and guidance to parents.
  • Provide reports and maintain files in accordance with the accreditation standards.
  • Work with at-risk, marginalized families from diverse cultural backgrounds within the community.
  • This position may involve flexible hours including evenings, weekends and stat. holidays to accommodate the needs of clients.
  • Conduct other duties as required 

What you bring to WFC

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in an area of study relevant to social/human service (e.g. Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, etc.)
  • Knowledge of child development, positive parenting and family dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict.
  • An understanding of integrated case management is an asset
  • Current First Aid, Class 5 Driver’s License and use of own car required.
  • Maintain current First Aid and Non-Violent crisis intervention certificates.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Bilingual or Multilingual is an asset (Cantonese/Mandarin preferred)
