Hours and Days: Tuesday to Friday: 10:30pm to 8:30am (Overnight)

 

Days Off: Saturday, Sunday and Monday

 

Salary & Compensation: $24.38 to $26.42 per hour. 100% employer paid benefits package.

3 weeks vacation for Full-Time and pro-rated for Part-Time.

 

About:

The Kettle Society supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment, mentoring and housing. We work to raise awareness of mental health issues, break down stigma and reduce barriers for people with mental illness. Our goal is to promote inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.

 

Job Summary:

In accordance with The Kettle Society values, The Mental Health Worker is responsible for providing direction and support to apartment residents with daily social, emotional, and life skills assistance in line with established care plan procedures. This position is responsible for cleaning of the kitchen, dining room and common areas of the building and doing some cooking. You are also responsible for monitoring the cameras and granting access to residents of the building.

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Community Social Service – Mental Health-related
  • One - year recent related experience in a mental health setting which may include community work experience and volunteer work. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid first aid certificate – Occupational First Aid Level 1
  • Valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate

Abilities & Skills:

  • Ability to work with people with mental illness, hoarders, homeless at risk and addictions
  • Ability to work with bed bug protocol and assist tenants in management of pests
  • Ability to prep and cook meals followed by clean up
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with tenants
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in tenant
  • Have an understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation and concurrent disorders including theories and methods
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
