Are you passionate about building a career in supporting Edmontonians who are facing personal, social, economic and cultural barriers? The Program Assistant provides planning and administrative support to e4c Community Services Programs to ultimately eliminate and alleviate poverty in Edmonton.


e4c Community Services includes School Based and Financial Empowerment Programming:  

  • e4c School Based Programs: School Nutrition (lunch and snack), and Out of School Time (ArtStart and Young Chefs). School Nutrition programs provide a healthy and nutritious snack or lunch each school day to children/youth attending high-needs schools. Out of School time provides high quality skill building programming for children and youth.
  • e4c Financial Empowerment Programs: Make Tax Time Pay, EmpowerU, and the Financial Empowerment Champions Project. The programs target Edmonton’s most vulnerable communities. We focus on low income Edmontonians, many of whom are facing significant personal, social, economic and cultural barriers.

Hours: Full-time position: 40 hours per week: Monday to Friday: 10:00am to 6:00pm; requires a flexible            schedule; requires use of a personal vehicle and travel around the city of Edmonton.

In Your Role You Will

Program Delivery

  • Attends all program sites, program events and acts as an on-site contact to actively build positive relationships with children, families, volunteers and other stakeholders.
  • Assists in the planning and organization of program registration events.
  • Gathers, organizes and delivers programming materials to program sites.
  • Works with the Program Coordinator(s) in the on-site supervision and coordination of program volunteers, interns and student placements.
  • Provides appropriate behavioral guidance to participants that ensure rules are enforced in a positive manner to support a healthy self-concept of each child.
  • Communicates with parent/caregivers regarding their child’s participation in programming.
  • Report disclosures, critical incidents and communicate concerning observed behavior in persons served to Program Coordinator(s) as applicable.
  • Act as a role model and demonstrates what a healthy relationship with an adult looks like.


  • Completes and maintains month-end program statistics.
  • Reviews and completes bi-weekly payroll summary.
  • Reconciles monthly debit card and credit card transactions.
  • Develops, maintains and updates program files and contact lists. 

Education and Certifications


  • High School Diploma.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Communications or Education fields is an asset.
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Child Intervention Check.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Food Handling Certificate.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proof of Vehicle Insurance, Registration (with proof of 2 million dollar liability coverage) and 3 year Drivers Abstract. 


  • 1+ year relevant experience or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience working with school communities, children and diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of Food Security within a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and to work independently and in a team settings.
  • Strong administrative skills preferably in a program delivery setting.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple agencies and partners.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, database applications and computer operations.
