JOB DESCRIPTION 

INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

The Interim Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors of Alouette Addictons Services Society.

 

The Interim Executive Directors responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for the formation and adherence to budgets, recruitment, training, supervision and appraisal of staff, public information, public relations and promotion of the program
  • Managing the daily operations of the program and providing supervision of counselling staff in delivery of clinical services
  • Supervising the development of education, prevention and treatment services
  • Establishing a direct relationship with Fraser Health and BC Housing, including adhering to the Fraser Health Authority and BC Housing Contracts
  • Attend all Board Meetings & Sub-Committee’s
  • Provide open, honest communication with The Board of Directors
  • Support orientation and training of the Board of Directors with information, resources, reports and analysis
  • Increasing Alouette Addictions funding, which will include Fundraising, Grant & Proposal Writing & direct interaction with key community leaders

Planning and Budgeting

The Interim Executive Director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating services in relation to community needs, and recommends changes in programs, priorities and expenditures to be approved by the Board of Directors

Best Practice Standards

The Interim Executive Director is responsible for maintaining best practice standards within the facility.

The Executive Director will:

  • Conduct performance appraisals and other forms of audit to ensure ongoing standards of service delivery
  • Keeps staff informed about new developments in the field, encourages continuing development through relevant reading and attendance at courses, workshops and seminars.
  • Adhere to the terms outlined in the Collective Agreement

Administration

The Interim Executive Director has overall responsibility for ensuring the efficient operation of program delivery.

The Interim Executive Director will:

  • Ensure maintenance of client documentation and statistics
  • Ensure maintenance of adequate financial and personnel records
  • Produce reports as required by Board of Directors
  • Ensure program operations meet Regional Guidelines as outlined in Alouette Addictions Services contracts with the Fraser Health Authority and BC Housing
  • Maintain good community relations with all affected partners in the community

            Other administrative duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

  • Conduct a governance review to ensure all policies, procedures and practices are up to the highest of standards as directed by the Board Directors
  • Other administrative duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

Qualifications

Education/Experience

 

            Undergraduate degree in a related field.

  • Knowledge of substance abuse and addictions

            Minimum 5 years experience in a senior leadership role in a non-profit               organization

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a multidisciplinary leadership team
  • Demonstrated experience planning, developing and implementing programs
  • Proven ability in significant fund development and project management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data base and common software applications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in managing staff in a union/non-union environment

 

 

Skills              

 

Ability to direct, administer, supervise and evaluate substance abuse treatment and prevention services.  Liaise and relate effectively and professionally with The Board of Directors, staff, community and government partners.
