This position requires a thorough understanding of sexual abuse issues, the consequences for children and their families, and a wide range of strategies for intervention, with an emphasis being placed on using integrated approaches to prevention and healing.  Successful applicants will understand the issues relating to children, and be knowledgeable about the behavioural, cognitive, emotional and social development of children and adolescents

General overview of main responsibilities:

  1. Interviewing clients and families, preparing case histories, assessing client’s needs and outlining services provided by the NICCCS. Referring clients to other appropriate programs, as required.
  2. Developing and implementing treatment plans necessary to meet client’s needs. Providing individual and group counselling interventions using a variety of therapeutic techniques.
  3. Monitoring and evaluating client’s progress and as appropriate, may provide follow up support to clients after the end of treatment.
  4. Providing required reports on client’s behaviours and progress. Maintaining related records and statistics.
  5. Developing and maintaining knowledge of community resources and providing appropriate referrals to clients to meet their goals.
  6. Attending team meetings, agency and community inter-agency meetings as required. Liaising with other community service providers and professionals.

A Master's degree or Psychiatric Nurse designation is required.
