Contract Hours: Approximately 15 hours

From October 4-6 we are holding a summit at Camp Squeah, just outside of Hope, BC. This is the first of what is planned to be an event at the Camp in October each year. During this summit we are feeding 25-30 people. Food will include 2 continental style breakfasts, 1 cold lunch, 2 hot dinners and coffee and snacks between meeting sessions. There will be at least one volunteer helping with food preparation and serving and volunteers to clean up after meals.



The contract Kitchen coordinator will be responsible for cooking and coordinating, supervising and directing kitchen operations, to assist in creating an enjoyable weekend for summit attendees. 



  • Oversee all kitchen operations ensuring healthy and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with Project Lead for kitchen Supplies.
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding kitchen coordination.
  • Provide kitchen volunteers with mentorship and support in preparing food
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of food and beverages.
  • Notify Project Lead of any repairs or maintenance required for kitchen equipment.
  • Enforce proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures. 
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years experience in food preparation in the restaurant industry or equal
  • Food Safe certification 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to lead and direct a team.
  • Ability to work with volunteer teams.
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Knowledge of dietary needs for people with dietary restrictions and choices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sexual and Gender Diversity Awareness Training
  • Post Secondary diploma in Culinary Arts
