WJS Canada is currently looking for two (2) individuals to join our newest program in Maple Ridge, as permanent full-time Residence Workers.

The Program:

A two-bed, staffed residential home providing emergency placement services to children and youth, who will receive individualized care. The length of stay varies depending on how soon alternate housing arrangements can be coordinated. A majority of the children and youth have experienced some form of trauma resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms. Placements may occur at any time of day or night, depending on the needs of the children or youth.


This emergency resource program is unique in that placements are identified by MCFD and may come from any regional MCFD offices throughout the lower mainland, from Hope to Vancouver.


The Position:

We are recruiting 2 new team members as Residence Workers (RW) for a new emergency placement program in Maple Ridge.


The permanent full-time Residence Workers (RW) are part of a dynamic care-giver team and are responsible for assisting our person served (PS) to live successfully in residential settings in an accredited agency. Ensure physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs are met. The Residence Workers assist the PS to enhance quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life skills. They provide behavioural support and supervision in the program and community, implement and monitor individual program plans through observation and accurate reporting, and participate in operating and maintain the program. These positions require union membership with CUPE.



Two (2) permanent, full-time positions, each with 40 hours per week:

  • Tuesday through Saturday, 0700-1500

As an ideal candidate you possess the following qualifications:

  • A certificate or diploma or degree in related human/social service field
  • Other combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Preference given to those with one year experience operating a licensed home, trauma informed practice, ABA
  • Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 (or ability to obtain within the probation period)
  • Ability to use common computer applications required (training provided)
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, clean driver’s abstract and use of personal vehicle with appropriate insurance


**Successful applicants will be required to participate in MCFD screening prior to confirmed employment with WJS Canada.**
