Job Description

Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator will help implement The Refugee Centre’s (TRC) overall communications strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director and Director of Operations, the Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with the management team and staff to develop and implement communication strategies which will broaden TRC’s impact and overall messaging. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the management and staff to develop communications strategies that will broaden reach and deepen the impact of TRC’s activities; 
  • Content management of TRC’s Website; 
  • Coordinate the TRC’s social media activities; 
  • Proofread and edit reports as needed in English and/or French; 
  • Quality control of external documents in English and/or French; 
  • Coordinate the planning, writing, editing, production and distribution of reports, newsletters and publications; 
  • Develop strategies and communication pieces that respect the standards established in order to inform members, participants, partners and employees on the centre’s, of Quebec’s challenges, opportunities and achievements. 
  • Develop and implement strategies that will enhance visibility and awareness of the TRC’s impact with members, the community and our partners. 

 

Skills and Experience Required 

  • Current student or graduate in a discipline relevant to communications, journalism or public relations; 
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, preferably in the 2 official languages (English, French); 
  • Ability to communicate messages in a professional and engaging manner; 
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritize workload; 
  • Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating communication plans and materials; 
  • Strong computer skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office, and Google programs; 
  • Good knowledge of website management (content, updates, etc.); 
  • Social Media experience coupled with an understanding of Search Engine Optimization and Analytics; 
  • Third Language considered as asset.

 

Job Details 

 

  • Period: 1-year contract beginning September 12th, 2019 

 

  • Employment condition: 25 hours per week, probation period of 3 months. Probation Schedule: Monday-Friday 10AM-3PM
