WJS Canada is currently looking for one individual to join our newest program in Maple Ridge, as a Full-Time Program Manager.

The Program:

This two-bed staffed residential home, provides emergency placement services throughout the lower mainland, from Hope to Vancouver, for children and youth identified by MCFD. A majority of the children and youth will also have experienced some form of trauma in their lives resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms. Placements may occur at any time of day, depending on the needs of the children or youth, including throughout the night. Two independent suites will provide individualized care for each child. All emergency placements will be at the initiative of the Ministry, and the length of stay will vary from one youth to another depending on how soon alternate housing arrangements can be coordinated. This program is unique in that placements may come from any of the regional MCFD offices.

 

The Position:

We are looking for someone with the ability and skill to respond effectively to crisis situations applying trauma informed practices and strength-based approaches.

 

The Program Manager provides operational and administrative direction for the development, implementation and management of the program in this CARF-accredited agency. They implement and monitor policies and procedures related to day-to-day services to persons served and monitor the home providers to ensure quality of care. They interact directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required, and are responsible for overseeing and coordinating individual program plans. The program manager participates in agency decision making and is the primary liaison with the contracting body. This manager position will be responsible for supervision of children/youth in care contracted resources and day programs in the Lower Mainland catchment area.

 

Scheduling:

This full-time position will work 40 hours per week with a weekly schedule of:

  • Monday to Friday 0830-1630
  • Schedule varies to meet the operational needs of the program, including some hours on-line. Will also be required to be “on-call” during scheduled time off.
  • Wage is negotiable at time of hiring.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess

  • A degree in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field with educational preparation for the roles of manager and administrator.
  • Minimum of three years in a similar facility or program, with at least one year in a supervisory or management role.
  • Must have specific experience with financial and human resource management.
  • Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and CPR certificates required.
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and Conflict Resolution Certificate
  • Experience with basic sign language and/or alternative communication strategies training or experience an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
