WHAT YOU BRING

Education, Training, Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in social sciences, with four years of experience in personal finances, adult education, and group facilitation; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
  • Previous experience working with community development projects

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Advanced knowledge of matters related to personal finances
  • Excellent knowledge of dynamics related to poverty and low-income
  • Thorough knowledge of community resources and related programs
  • Ability to use initiative and function independently
  • Computer competency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

 

Additional Assets:

  • Experience working with youth and vulnerable populations
  • Additional languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese or Arabic

 

Professional Certification, License or Registration Requirements:

  • Certified Financial Advisor is an asset

 

Additional Requirements:             

  • Successful completion of criminal record check
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis

 

HERE’S WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER

Facilitate money skills training for adults across the Lower Mainland, and provide one-to-one coaching. Implement the Money Skills curriculum to enable participants to effectively manage their everyday finances as well as plan for the future. Build relationships with community partners in order to foster and facilitate access to training.

 

YOUR KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

 

  1. Program Delivery
  • Facilitate Money Skills workshops for adults in order to assist them to identify and practice effective money management skills
  • Collaborate with program manager, co-facilitators and partner agency staff to ensure the effective delivery of program services
  • Participate actively in program evaluation and contribute to the development of program as needed
  • Provide coaching sessions to clients pertaining to personal finance
  • Seek appropriate consultation and supervision when necessary

 

  1. Community Liaison
  • Develop collaborative relationships with community partners and coordinate service delivery for current and prospective partners in consultation with the program manager
  • Maintain and develop program visibility in consultation with program manager
  • Make appropriate referrals to other programs, services and resources

Work Hours: Estimated 7 to 14 hours weekly, some weekends and evenings

Salary: $25.32 per hour

Location: Base office is at East Broadway but will be travelling to various locations throughout Lower Mainland
