Region: Vancouver & Lower Mainland Type: Contract - Full time
Location: Vancouver Salary: tax exempt contract fee

Seeking a Home-share caregiver/mentor with an apartment or house in Vancouver who is interested in sharing your home and providing a mentor-support relationship to a young man who needs some assistance with learning home and life skills.  His caregiver will need to help structure his days so that there’s a plan in place, meals planned for and prepared and supports and strategies for daily functioning success, however, he is capable of being home and out on his own with a plan in place and his caregiver could certainly work.  Best suited would be a single man or woman; mid-late 20's to mid-30's.  He is seeking a person interested in sharing interests and activities together as well as sharing a living space.  He is not interested in living in a separate suite.  Building a supportive relationship is necessary for this to be successful.

"I have a passion for sports cars, Virtual Reality, gaming (Minecraft/Fortnight), comics and dogs, especially my family dog.  I’d like to live with someone who might be interested in gaming together sometimes, but also doing other things together like grocery shopping, seeing movies, go-carting, video game conventions, RV shows – I like the new RV’s.  I also enjoy Hot Wheels cars and Marvel movies.  In the summer I’d like to take occasional day-trips together to lakes and hiking trails.   I feel like I’d like to live just with me and my caregiver in a home; less people – easy and simple.  I'm not looking for someone to make decisions or plans for me but to help me figure how to work out plans that I can use to learn things and get stuff done.  This is my first move away from home, so I need a fair amount of support to complete daily routines, figure out my budget, plan and follow through.  I like a good laugh.  I really need to be on a direct transit route so that I can learn it and get to and from my new home to my parents home in Grandview and to a job, hopefully.”

Suitability of candidate will be determined through a screening process based on agency interviews, reference checks, submission of required documentation, (including criminal background search, current first aid certificate, and a medical fitness confirmation) as well as a successful home-study (conducted in your home).  Contract amount is compensatory and will be discussed once initial screening is completed.  Following that, the Individual will make all final decisions about the fit of the applicant.

If you think you'd be a great fit for this opportunity, please express your interest by emailing a letter of interest/intention to this posting. Only suitable applicants will be contacted.
