Nature: Part-time (25 hours per week)

Salary: $16.00 to $18.55/hour (depending on qualifications and experience)

Location: Tri-Cities Region

 

About the Position:

The Receptionist answers visitor and client inquiries about S.U.C.C.E.S.S., directs visitors and clients to appropriate contacts, assists clients in filling out registration forms, sorts mail, answers incoming calls, and arranges appointments for guests and clients to meet with staff.

Reports to: Regional Manager – Tri-Cities ISIP

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets drop-in clients and direct them to the appropriate services or staff
  • Answers phones and directs inquiries as well as takes messages
  • Answers basic questions about S.U.C.C.E.S.S. services and community services
  • Helps clients fill out registration forms, hands out immigration forms to newcomers, and distributes information booklets
  • Books appointments for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. settlement staff
  • Keeps the office tidy
  • Assists office staff with administrative duties, as necessary
  • Performs various tasks and projects as assigned by the Office Manager

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year working in customer service or similar occupation is an asset
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is an asset
  • Experience in social services is an asset

 

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to use MS Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook (versions 2007 or later)
  • Friendly, outgoing and possesses good communication skills both over the telephone and in person
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Able to relate to different personalities, age groups and cultures in a variety of situations
  • Ability to handle things in a discreet and confidential manner
  • Able to observe and react appropriately to adverse situations
  • Professional in manner and appearance
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Understanding of the social services field is an asset
  • Fluency in additional language(s) is an asset

 

Other Requirements:

  • May include evenings and weekend duties
  • Clear criminal record check
