Drive Happiness Seniors Association is a registered, non-profit society whose mission is to assist seniors in remaining independent in their own homes for as long as possible. By providing seniors with mobility, we can help ensure an independent lifestyle. We service Edmonton and surrounding communities and are rapidly expanding.  


Drive Happiness is looking for a full-time Program Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide assistance of daily tasks and the running of the Seniors Assisted Transportation Program. We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about helping seniors with a diverse skill set to assist in various areas of the organization’s operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic group of individuals and make a difference in the lives of seniors in Alberta.


Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide program support to Program Manager, Office Manager, and Executive Director.
  • Support the development of the expansion project and organizational growth.
  • Assist with research, drafting proposals, and report writing.
  • Perform back-up office duties for the organization including answering phone calls, booking rides, responding to inquiries, and assisting with mail correspondence.
  • Engage with like-minded organizations to help establish collaborations and partnerships.
  • Assist with marketing, creation of promotional materials, and management of social media accounts.
  • Proactively search out events to do presentations or host a booth for recruiting volunteers.
  • Assist with funding applications and reporting.




  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Business, Human Services, Human Ecology, Communications, or relevant disciplines.


  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and willing to travel to all parts of Edmonton and surrounding areas.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Knowledge of Edmonton and surrounding communities 
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of transportation options in Edmonton and the surrounding area
  • Knowledge of seniors with health or mobility challenges

Proficiency in the use of computers for:

  • Microsoft Office software, strong knowledge of MS-Word & MS-Excel
  • Google Map, Internet research
  • Database management
  • Social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter)  



  • 1-2 years’ related experience and/or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Previous work with seniors would be considered an asset


Working conditions

  • This position will require the Program Assistant to travel regularly throughout Edmonton and the surrounding counties.  
  • The Program Assistant may be required to work some evenings and weekends for program support and events and if required, a flex schedule will be accommodated.
