  • Participate in the overall functioning of the shelter program and intake and care of the residents.
  • Establish rapport and provide a warm, safe, emotionally supportive environment for women.
  • Record all activities and interactions with residents as part of the ongoing case management.
  • Monitor the day-to-day operations of the residence to ensure quality control for all equipment and maximum cleaning effectiveness in adherence to licensing regulations.



  • A diploma in a related field plus a minimum one year experience working with low-income vulnerable women.
  • Working knowledge of issues impacting women who experience poverty, trauma and homelessness, addictions and mental illness.
  • Knowledge of legislation related to alcohol and drug use, child protection and tenancy.



  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Current Food Safe Level 1 and First-Aid CPR-C Certificates required
  • Understanding of crisis management, risk assessment, trauma and gender-informed practice
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract. Residential program location is transit accessible.
  • Negative TB skin test
  • Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check for children and vulnerable adults (local, provincial)
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
