Firth Residence in Abbotsford provides detox and 30 day stabilization for women, and transitional housing and support services for women on their own or with children. Clients receive case management and help developing long-term housing plans and accessing community resources.

 

ROLE OVERVIEW

 

Transitional housing & programming for women.  Provides safe and supportive short-term housing, daily necessities, crisis intervention, programming  and community referrals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

To ensure safety and security of residents on a daily basis and provide support and assistance to clients upon entry and during their stay in the shelter. To facilitate women’s access to community resources.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • A Diploma in a related field plus 2 years’ experience in a similar environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered Care Aid Designation is desired
  • Proven knowledge related to addictions and mental health
  • Minimum one year previous experience in a residential environment preferably with addictions
  • Experience working in a licensed facility would be an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Crisis intervention skills or training
  • TB Test, Food Safe Level 1 and Standard First Aid with CPR, and Dr’s Note of fitness required
  • Local Police search and Provincial Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Clearance required
  • Enhanced Security Screening required
  • Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Clear and current driver’s abstract
