The Edmonton Intercultural Centre (EIC) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization that has been established to provide a vibrant and supportive environment for intercultural recreational and community programming for people of many cultures, located at 9538 107 Ave NW Edmonton, in the former McCauley School.


EIC is in need of a well-organized individual, who can provide excellent customer service to the various users of the facility.  The successful candidate is calm and diplomatic and as a result contributes to ensuring that centre events and activities are well managed and enjoyable for all.  This position is covering for a 1 year maternity leave.


As a Facility Host you will:

  • Ensure program space is ready for user groups upon their arrival
  • Maintain facility schedule in cooperation with the EIC administration office
  • Control admission to various areas of the Centre
  • Provide detailed information about the Centre and show rental spaces to visitors
  • Ensure that appropriate furniture and equipment is available to renters and returned upon the conclusion of the event
  • Ensure the safe, clean and appropriate use of the Centre by guests
  • Perform related duties as required (could include light cleaning and organizational projects)
  • Report facility maintenance to Administration in a timely manner
  • Open and close the facility (working with alarms)
  • Liaise with emergency response agencies as required
  • Possibly receive payments for rentals, and write receipts
  • Be the lead in managing the facility in an emergency situation



  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Fluent in English (speaking, writing, and reading)
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, & languages
  • An ability to lift 40 lbs. lifting or pushing at times (tables, chairs, etc.), ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.



  • Experience working as a Facility Attendant, experience working with the public
  • Experience in a cross-cultural setting
  • Ability to converse in a second language
  • Familiarity with event planning


The person hired for the position must:

  • Provide an original Police Information Check or Certified Criminal Record Check issued by Edmonton Police Services within the past 6 months that is satisfactory to the employer before starting in the position. 
  •  Secure a child welfare check
  • Have a current Standard First Aid and CPR


Hours of Work: Part Time Hours, weekday evenings starting 4:30 PM, and weekends, 16 – 20 hours per week.
