The Canadian Red Cross is looking for an Assistant, Training. Reporting to the Manager of the Training Hub in the International Operations Unit (IO), and working closely with the IO Project Manager, Readiness for Global Emergency Response, the incumbent is responsible to support the successful implementation of Training Hub activities to maintain CRC readiness for multilateral Red Cross Movement operations.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of CRC’s annual IO Training Calendar.
  • Maintain communication lines with Red Cross Movement Partner (IFRC, ICRC, PNS) training focal points.
  • Provide support to Training Hub activities as required and under the direction of Training Hub Manager
  • Liaise with Register Managers and other internal stakeholders on formalizing invitation and selection criteria for planned Movement trainings.
  • Liaise with clients and Finance to address participant needs such as travel advances, etc related to Movement training
  • Provide administrative support to training participants.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.


We’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Business Administration
  • Two years experience in a project/program support role or similar job-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge and ability in using business support processes and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, Moodle, databases and/or other tracking systems)
  • Superior organization skills and keen attention to details, timelines and budget are essential
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Resilience and adaptability to changing circumstances and an evolving environment
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines/turnaround times
  • Strong relationship building and customer service skills, demonstrated attention to client objectives and quality assurance
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate volunteers
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Bilingualism an asset
  • Commitment to gender equality and social inclusion
  • The incumbent must have the commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement and model the core competencies of the CRCS: team excellence, service excellence, accountability and results focused.


Working Conditions

  • Most of the work is performed in a clean and comfortable environment
  • May include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers and office equipment.
  • May be required to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time up to 20kg (or another weight)
  • Events require a higher than usual physical effort during the preparation phase which includes transports of event materials including lifting and carrying boxes, setting up and tear down of rooms
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice
  • Ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions.
  • This position involves 20 – 25% domestic travel
  • Must be able to be Medical Cleared for travel in accordance with established CRC Medical criteria in positions where travel will be required
  • Successfully complete a Canadian criminal record reference check and vulnerable sector check
