We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Executive Director, leading our organization to future growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the successful management of the Society according to its vision and strategic plan.

The Center for Epilepsy and Seizure Education in British Columbia (the Center) is a non-profit organization located in Abbotsford BC, aimed at raising awareness and offering services for those affected by epilepsy. We are dedicated to creating and providing support, information, and education to families and individuals living with epilepsy, their support staff, educational personnel, friends, co-workers, health care providers and anyone affected by epilepsy. Position Summary  

As the Executive Director, you will be accountable for the successful management of the organization according to the strategic plan and engaging people living with epilepsy and their families in all aspects of the Society.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the organization in its work together with the Board of Directors
  • Prepare a comprehensive budget working with the Board to secure funding for the operation of the organization
  • Oversee all departments, programs, and stakeholder relationships, providing direction in the day-to-day operations
  • Act as a spokesperson in promoting the Center’s vision, representing the organization with key stakeholders including donors, government and the community
  • Develop effective marketing strategies to promote the Center’s mandate and grow the network of donors
  • Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders, donors and community members
  • Provide leadership and coaching to staff, creating a collaborative and inspiring work environment
  • In partnership with the Board of Directors, ensure the organization operates in a manner consistent and in full compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Develop and implement operating policies and procedures 

 

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience leading a small non-profit organization through operational efficiency and revenue growth
  • Post-secondary education in management, health, social work, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Extensive knowledge in fund development and public relations
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in financial management
  • Experience in leading employees and creating high-performing teams through a participative management style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and build consensus
  • Proven track record in building partnerships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals
  • Experience in implementing effective public relations strategies to promote the organization’s mandate, engaging stakeholders and the media
  • Ability to work flexible hours
