Nature: Full-time (35 hours/week)

Salary: $18.00 to $21.00 per hour

 

About the Program:

Healthcare Support for Seniors (HSS) is a 6-month project that aims to help improve seniors with language barrier to access health care. Major components of the Project include healthcare resources mapping, workshops on disease prevention / health awareness, providing interpretation for medical appointments, and survey design and administration. The Project Officer supports the Project Coordinator to deliver the project activities, and to meet client targets and outcomes.

Reports to: Project Coordinator

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement a 6-month project
  • Act according to the workflow and processes of the project
  • Implement marketing plans to meet the target number of seniors being served
  • Work with stakeholders e.g. physicians, health units, public transportation, and volunteers, etc
  • Accompany seniors to access health care
  • Liaise with medical interpreters
  • Compile a list of healthcare and self-help resources in the Metro Vancouver
  • Disseminate printed resources
  • Assist in the 3 workshops on disease prevention / health awareness
  • Collect clients’ data and surveys, compile monthly reports and statistics
  • Participate in staff meetings, agency trainings, etc.
  • Handle phone and email inquiries about the project
  • Other work related duties as assigned by the Senior Manager and Program Director

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or equivalent
  • Experience in working with vulnerable immigrant seniors an asset
  • Valid First Aid Certificate an asset

 

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written English, plus verbal and written Chinese language
  • Patience in serving immigrant seniors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
  • Possess organizational skills
  • Team player and flexible
  • Attention to work details

 

Other Requirements:

  • Frequent travel within Greater Vancouver
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
