The BC SPCA Richmond Education and Adoption Centre is currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly organized individual to take on the role of Branch Manager.  The Centre provides education and support to the community to enhance animal welfare and encourage adoption.  The Centre is a fast-paced environment perfect for an individual with a passion for both animal welfare and community building. You will make a direct impact on the lives of both animals and members of the community by assisting with the development, delivery and management of innovative education, adoption and retail services.

 

You have a successful track record of managing people and the ability to motivate and inspire a core group of volunteers. You have demonstrated an outstanding ability to create strong working relations with the community and our stakeholders. You will use those skills to maintain our Centre, lead our local fundraising efforts and create great working relationships with staff, volunteers and your community liaisons as a whole.

 

With your collaborative leadership skills, you will lead a team of dedicated staff and foster a positive work environment to help the team achieve their “best work”.  You will have a hands-on approach and always believe in the highest standards of care and welfare for animals. The animal’s welfare will direct your decision making. You will report directly to the Regional Manager of the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley and have a strong working relationship with the BC SPCA’s Community Council for the Centre.  Providing excellent internal and external customer service is important to you and you approach your work collaboratively with others in your region.

 

To succeed in this role, you bring: 

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role, including financial responsibilities preferred
  • Proven visionary leader with the ability to inspire people to achieve great things
  • Must have a genuine compassion for animals and sound knowledge of the Five Freedoms and related animal welfare standards
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, meet priorities and to work within a demanding work schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a positive manner
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region and Province as necessary. Must have a valid BC Class 5 Drivers License
  • Previous experience working within an animal shelter, fundraising, volunteer management and media experience would be an asset
  • Computer skills – Windows, MS Office incl. PowerPoint, Excel and Skype for Business
