What you’ll be doing:

The Financial Empowerment Assistant reports to the Financial Empowerment – Financial Capability Manager and is responsible for effective administration systems within the department working 18.75 hours per week. The Financial Empowerment Assistant supports the following programs:

 

  • Money Management partners with community organizations to deliver Budgeting, Banking, Assets, Credit and Consumerism sessions to people living in low-income situations in Calgary. Workshops are also provided on-site at Momentum.
  • Start Smart - As a two-generation approach to poverty reduction, the StartSmart program includes workshops, sign-up events, one-on-one follow-up support to participants, and community agency training.

 

Primary Relationships:

  • Supervisor: Manager of Financial Empowerment – Financial Capability
  • Financial Empowerment Teams
  • Financial Empowerment participants
  • Momentum staff

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

This position provides administrative support in the areas of:

  • Program data entry & evaluation data entry
  • One-on-one follow-up support to participants and community agencies over the phone and email
  • Assist Start Smart participants in acquiring identification, birth certificates and social insurance numbers for their children
  • Other tasks as required

 

What you need to do it well:

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, Email, Internet
  • Experience with databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Easily adaptable to function in a changing, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Experience with marginalized and diverse populations an asset.
