Role Overview:

Hillel Ontario’s Director of Operations and Finance is responsible to lead the organization’s operational and financial functions. In addition to the technical skills required, the Director of Operations and Finance is entrepreneurial, intellectually curious and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Highly organized with a keen attention to detail, the Director of Operations and Finance plans, directs and coordinates financial and operational strategy and works as a key thought partner to the Chief Strategy Officer and CEO. In support of the organization’s Strategic Plan, and ensuring that all required measurements are effectively applied and reported to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Operations and Finance is a full-time position with greater workload during the academic year and lighter hours during the summer and other school breaks. Hillel Ontario is a team-oriented, collaborative and highly flexible work environment; some evening and weekend hours will be necessary to support special programs and/or projects and fundraising events.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, both internally and externally
  • Establish appropriate financial controls and policies across the organization
  • Manage organizational processes around budgeting, forecasting and planning
  • Improve internal processes and systems
  • Work closely with senior leadership to best strategically align organization’s financial growth and goals
  • Supervise and provide support to the Finance Manager
    • Supervise staff expense reimbursement process
    • Ensure all monthly financial reports are being prepared, including budget tracking.
    • Manage and oversee organizations Insurance Policies (commercial, auto, facility, etc.)
  • Real Estate- Manage facility leases, oversee management of all tenants, supervision of maintenance, vendor management, sourcing, furnishings
  • IT-oversee technology systems, including computers, phones, voice mail, copy machines, vendor management, leasing, purchasing and maintenance
  • CRM/Database management- ensure proper use and management of Little Green Light (LGL) and Schwipe, including tracking systems and reports
  • Logistics resources-oversight of contracts, vendors, food suppliers, office supplies, and overall logistics resource for large event/program planning
  • Provide support to the CEO and Chief Strategy Officer
  • Provide logistical and stewardship support to Hillel Ontario’s Board of Directors and Board of Governors
  • Provide support to the Board Treasurer and Finance committee to ensure effective financial reporting to the Board
  • Other duties as determined by the Chief Strategy Officer

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the CPA or CMA or CFA designations
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership and have a high level of oral and written communications skills
  • Capacity to assess process and internal control weaknesses and identify improvements
  • Nimble and comfortable with “rolling up sleeves”
  • Detail-oriented, flexible and organized
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Strong Excel skills

 

Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience
