 Family YMCA – 200 Massey Drive.Schedule: Full time Salaried position, Monday – Friday.

Child Care Coordinator (maternity position)

The YMCA of Northern BC is seeking a qualified, passionate applicant to join our Prince George team!

The YMCA is the largest provider of child care in Canada and the YMCA of Northern BC is the largest not for profit provider here in the North. Currently, the YMCA of Northern BC operates child care in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Fort St. John, and Chetwynd. We provide infant and toddler care, group 3-5 care, preschool, and out of school care, serving over 600 families with over 120 staff and growing!

We are seeking a qualified, experienced, child care leader who is passionate and committed to working alongside the Massey Care and Learning team to provide best-in-class care for children and their families.  Our commitment to excellence will allow for opportunities for you to grow and succeed with us!

The successful applicant will possess a belief in play based educational programming, have excellent communication skills, bring a strength-based approach to nurturing a team, and a positive, responsive attitude to delivering service excellence.

Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

  • To provide successful leadership and management of the YMCA Massey Care and Learning Centre while achieving excellence in child care and making a significant contribution towards the advancement of child care in the community.
  • To spend within an approved budget; hire, supervise and terminate all staff and volunteers within the Coordinator’s responsibility areas in consultation with the Manager of Child Care Operations and the Director of Child Care Services.
  • Ensure that all systems meet Association standards of confidentiality, safety, quality, concern for the environment and health; maintain compliance with the Community Care Licensing Act and Regulations and relevant government regulations at all times.
  • To coach and mentor staff in delivering our Playing to Learn and A Place to Connect Curriculum and building strong relationships with children, families, and other staff.
  • To build a strong foundation with licensing officer and carry out all duties required of a Manager of the child care license, including timely and clear communications.
  • To work as a team with others on the YMCA Management Team supporting one another’s success.
  • Attend relevant trainings and hold monthly staff meetings.
  • Other duties as outlined on the job description.



  • Early Childhood Diploma (or similar combination of training and experience)
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
  • Current Emergency Child Care First Aid Certification
  • Three professional references
  • Immunization record and TB test
  • Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions.
