Position Summary:

PCRS seeks a regular full-time experienced social youth programming coordinator position for our Surrey Youth Resource Centre. The youth programming coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and vibrant space for youth to access the supports and services they need to achieve their goals. This person is a natural network-builder who sees potential in youth, community, and partnerships. They develop and enhance relationships with all service staff in the building and with many partners in our direct community.  They are a skilled youth worker who excels at supporting youth to achieve their goals. They love building community and being the “glue” of the centre.


The youth programming coordinator supervises the resource room drop-in programming, including the planning and implementation of activities connected to space. They have a solid understanding of youth engagement, psycho-social development, and community development. The drop-in space provides both brief one-on-one support as well as some longer-term case management. The youth programming coordinator should be able to quickly build rapport with a wide variety of youths.


As a hub for youth services and agencies, the youth programming coordinator is integral in the co-creation of culture and collaboration at CCYH. This position requires working flexible hours into the evenings and weekends.



  • Develop and coordinate programming and special events in the resource room to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for youth.
  • Provide advocacy and support in order to assist youth and their families to access information and support services.
  • Work with the manager of CCYH to facilitate program expansion and partnership development with other local youth service providers.
  • Create and distribute monthly programming calendar and CCYH activities schedule.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day program operational budgets and assist with reports to funders.
  • Fulfill financial, statistical, and other progress reporting requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with CCYH partners, and develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Complete regular program evaluation incorporating creative feedback mechanisms.
  • Supervision and support for cooking program staff and practicum students.

Academic and Job Experience Required:

  • B.A. in a related field plus two years’ experience, or a child and youth care diploma plus two years’ experience, or a combination of related work experience and education with at-risk or multi-barriered youth.

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
  • Standard first aid and CPR            

Desired Requirements:

  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation training
  • Trauma-informed practice training
  • Training to address depression/suicide/mental health assessment an asset
  • Certification in recreation, arts, and youth engagement an asset

Hours Of Work: Flexible hours between 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with occasional weekends

Salary Range:     $25.59/hour – $29.13/hour, Plus benefit package (100% employer-paid)
