NEC Native Education College is a large private Aboriginal college in Vancouver and also works with First Nations and Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. NEC works to strengthen Indigenous communities through accredited programs that lead to employment and higher learning. Students have access to many resources and in-house support that includes funding, counselling and career advising.

NEC is offering the ESCK program based on the Essential Skills model, focusing on employability training in customer service industries. We are seeking a Casual Instructor for delivery of Basic Security Training using developed curriculum.

 

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and work experience as follows will be considered:
• A certificate, diploma or post-secondary degree relevant to the subject matter and two years of full time work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter of the course, or
• Knowledge of the 9 Essential Skills
• Excellent verbal, written, computer communication skills and ability to collaborate on a team
• Previous customer service experience
• Ability to create and follow lesson plans, develop learning materials, handouts and conduct assessment activities
• Knowledge of and successful experience with Aboriginal adult instructional methodology
• Aboriginal ancestry or extensive experience working with indigenous organizations

 

Terms:

Appointment to this short-term contract position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude an offer of employment being finalized. This position is open to male and female applicants. Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal applicants.

 

Closing Date: Sunday, November 24, 2019
Start Date: Tuesday, December 3, 2019
Hours: 3.0 hrs per day, Tuesday and Thursdays, 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Salary: $35.70/hr
