Reporting to the Chief Curator or designate the Curatorial Assistant utilizes their knowledge of exhibition, development, art production and gallery operations to assist in three principal areas; touring exhibitions, Offsite installations and artist editions.

Touring Exhibitions: researches and assembles information on potential tour venues; coordinates, writes and disseminates information on touring exhibitions; solicits venues and develops, circulates and administers tour contracts and related invoices, fees and final reports; coordinates dissemination of exhibition materials to borrowing venues; liaises with Gallery staff and borrowing/lending venues; maintains touring exhibition files and databases; assists with development of related grant applications; develops, tracks and projects budgets for multi-year projects.


Offsite: liaises with curators, artists and external contactors to research, coordinate and manage the development of public art projects at Offsite, from conception to installation, including but not limited to sourcing fabricators, monitoring production, seeking estimates, writing texts, tracking budgets, coordinating signage and maintaining timelines.


Artist Editions: Working with selected artists and external contractors, oversees the production of artwork multiples, produced to sell in the Gallery store and online. This includes but is not limited to researching artists, sourcing fabricators, developing and tracking budgets, overseeing production, writing marketing materials and ensuring proper display.




Post secondary graduation in art history, museum studies or other relevant field at a college or university level plus a minimum of two years experience working in a not-for-profit museum/ gallery environment in an exhibitions-related position, with demonstrated ability in the effective coordination of complex logistical projects, is required. A network of contacts in provincial, national and  international art communities is desirable. Experience with exhibition development and tours, artwork production, contracts and grants are key assets. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently in an accurate, confidential and organized manner, meet deadlines, exercise critical thinking and problem solving, and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside contacts are essential. Additional requirements include; the ability to effectively use multifaceted databases and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); possession of excellent office administration, oral and written communication skills; and the ability to research, synthesize and write effectively for different purposes.
