Early Childhood Educator

Currently, the YMCA of Northern BC operates licensed child care at 13 locations in five communities: Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Fort St. John, and Chetwynd. We offer child care, preschool, and after-school care. We serve 600 families with 95 exceptional staff.
We are currently seeking an Early Childhood Educator for our Fort St. James program. They will demonstrate the character, skills, and personality to work with young children.
Major Responsibilities:
- To read, understand, and follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing, and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards.
- To interact directly with the children, providing quality care and creative programming.
- To establish and maintain positive daily communications and interactions with families, providing quality child care, building excellent programming, and excellent service to families, providing quality customer service and building meaningful relationships.
- To assist with the planning and implementing of a consistent child-centered program, in accordance with YMCA standards.
- To ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to licensing and YMCA requirements.
- To maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity and program areas, common spaces and washrooms.
- To release children only to those authorized by parent/guardian, to ask for identification in order to ensure that the authorized pick-up has been verified.
- To work with staff team to deliver a high quality and age appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and to attend all YMCA Playing to Learn professional development sessions and other trainings as scheduled.
- To maintain confidentiality of all information related to the centre, the children, their families and staff.
- To maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and to be appropriately dressed and groomed.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid License to practice Early Childhood Education
- Special Needs License to Practice an asset
- Current child care First Aid certificate
- Experience working with children in a child care/recreational setting
- TB test and Immunization record
- Three professional References
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide the applicable instructions.
