Gary Ockenden is the owner and lead consultant for Withinsight Services. His career included more than 20 years in public sector and NGO leadership positions. Highlights were a career with the Red Cross in international and Canadian management roles; a public sector position directing community health services for a rural area in British Columbia, Canada and Director of Community Engagement for the Columbia Basin Trust.

He has lived and worked on four continents and is as comfortable supporting front-line relief staff in Sudan as he is facilitating a board meeting in Vancouver or Ottawa.

Gary is using his talents and experience as a consultant and facilitator - with an emphasis on projects involving stakeholder engagement processes, strategic planning, project development, evaluation processes, and change management. He is certified in Strategic Planning by the Centre for Strategic Management (San Diego, USA), was an approved consultant with (the former) Community Economic Development Technical Assistance Program, and is an associate with Human Potential Consultants Inc (HPCI).

Gary is currently the Vice President of Amnesty International (Canada). He is a professional, published writer, a confident moderator or public speaker and plays the trombone (rather badly).  He has lived for 25 years in Nelson, British Columbia.
