Job Summary:

The Childcare Worker will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program, offering a nurturing environment for the care of children encouraging their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. This position will require knowledge of the Early Learning Framework and will work in close cooperation with the Program Supervisor, Program Facilitators, and other Childcare Workers.  This position will require working from various locations as needed.  Hindi and/or Punjabi speaking is an asset as programs are delivered in English and Punjabi.

Your Role:

Archway’s Childcare Worker with the Family Centre & Best for Babies Programs contributes by:

  • Supervising children and carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children, which may include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual and group activities.
  • Utilizing guiding techniques which include modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
  • Attending to the children’s physical needs which may include toileting, eating, sleeping, wiping noses, and other basic needs.
  • Attending to children’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking, holding infants and children. Providing a caring, nurturing environment in a multi-age setting for children birth to age 5.
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe environment. Administering First Aid when necessary.  Observing and removing potential hazards.   

This position is a great fit for someone who has a passion for working with children in various settings with a team, has strong written, verbal, and active listening skills and is able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds.


Our Offer

  • Wage: $22.71 per hour.
  • A part-time position from 9 to 15 hours per week, availability Tuesdays to Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM as shifts vary.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Minimum requirement of 20 Hour Responsible Adult Training.
  • Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE) is an asset.
  • Experience working in an Early Years setting.
  • Hindi and/or Punjabi speaking an asset.


The Job Requires you to have:

  • Strong written, verbal, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability and comfort in talking to children and their parents.
  • Good organization, time, and general management skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development (ages and stages).
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate group process and facilitation techniques.
  • This position will be exposed to a high level of noise and distractions from children.
  • This position will require close attention to children’s physical and emotional needs.
  • This position includes moderate physical activity involving walking, standing, bending, and lifting children up to 40 lbs. 
  • This position may include interactions with people in difficult situations.
  • Work may be outside normal office hours on occasion, including evenings.
  • Emergency First Aid certificate with CPR level C
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is required to meet Fraser Valley Health Authority requirements.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
