This role is responsible for the leadership, strategic development, and implementation of a comprehensive, creative and impactful communications and marketing strategy for the BB4CK community. This work aligns with every other area of the organization, bringing engaging and fitting communication tactics to every priority that is part of our work. With their team, this leader has the primary responsibility for stewardship of BB4CK’s brand and reputation.

 

The successful candidate is a creative and inventive professional skilled at telling stories and sharing messages in clear, compelling, and inspiring ways. The person in this role will be responsible for shaping the organization’s message, tone, and overall brand and supporting everyone in the organization to align to that.  

 

The role of the Communications Team Lead will be responsible for the following:

 

Whole Organization

  • Be responsible for your own health and wellness, personally and professionally, and take ownership to ensure you are able to perform this role as needed 
  • Contribute wholeheartedly to BB4CK’s vision and mission 
  • Working effectively on tasks assigned within the context of BB4CK values and culture 
  • Any duties not listed below that may be required to ensure the success of the team 

 

Leadership 

  • Contribute to the overall organizational strategy and direction 
  • Act as a support to the organization overall 
  • Supervise and support the Communications Coordinator(s), including role identification and recruitment when required 
  • Build infrastructure and tools that support the success of the Communications team 

 

Communications 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication and marketing (including social media) strategies aligned with the organization’s goals, budget and mission.  
  • Collaborate with other teams to centralize marketing & brand with broader organizational goals. 
  • Maintain and strengthen the brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and visual representation across all marketing materials  
  • Support and oversee the creation of content for various channels, including social media, website, email marketing, and printed materials 
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, influencers, and partners to secure media coverage and partnerships.  
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and supporters,   
  • Analytics and reporting, monitor marketing performance using analytics tools, prepare board reports and internal reporting.  
  • Budget management: manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficient use of resources.  
  • Promote the organization’s campaigns, programs, initiatives  
  • Represent and speak on behalf of BB4CK at external events and online

 Education & Experience  

  • 5-7 years mid-level experience working with a team and 1-2 years leading a team 
  • 3+ years experience in communications 
  • Experience or interest in nonprofit organizations, community development and/or food insecurity
  • Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook mail) 
  • Some skills around graphic design, video and/or photography (willing to train, but some grounding is helpful)

This role's general working hours are 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday daytimes, although flexibility is required from time to time to meet the demands of the role.

 

BB4CK offers a competitive total compensation approach to support the physical, psychological, cultural, and financial well-being of our people. Base salary is calculated at the 50th percentile of market value with additional benefits equivalent to over $15,000.
