About the Organization

Abuse Never Becomes Us (A.N.B.U.) அன்பு, is a Registered Charity organization that works with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) within the Tamil community and aims to respond to sexual violence through culturally and linguistically appropriate programs and services. Our mandate is to provide holistic support to promote healing with adult survivors as well as raise awareness and build capacity through collaborations and partnerships with the community. 

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled animator to create a short animation video about the A.N.B.U. Group Therapy program for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the Tamil community. The animation will serve as a promotional and informational tool to highlight the benefits and structure of the program. As an animator, you will work closely with our team to build the creative brief and bring it to life, capturing the essence of our program while maintaining sensitivity to the subject matter and cultural nuances.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the team to understand the creative brief and objectives of the animation project, considering the cultural context of the Tamil community.
  2. Develop storyboards and concept art that reflect the experiences and perspectives of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the Tamil diaspora.
  3. Create engaging and compelling animations using various techniques, including 2D or 3D animation, motion graphics, and visual effects.
  4. Incorporate feedback and revisions from stakeholders to ensure the animation resonates with the Tamil community and accurately represents the Group Therapy program.
  5. Ensure that the animation adheres to brand guidelines and accurately portrays the cultural identity of Tamil survivors.
  6. Deliver the final animation within the specified timeframe and budget constraints.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as an animator, with a portfolio showcasing previous animation work that reflects cultural diversity and sensitivity.
  2. Proficiency in animation software and tools.
  3. Strong storytelling and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas through animation while considering cultural nuances of the Tamil community.
  4. Understanding of the principles of animation, including timing, pacing, and character movement, with a focus on representing diverse identities.
  5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
  6. Sensitivity and empathy towards the subject matter and cultural background of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the Tamil diaspora, with a commitment to portraying it accurately, respectfully and through a Trauma informed lens.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience creating animations for nonprofit organizations or social causes, particularly those serving marginalized communities.
  2. Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches to storytelling and visual representation, with an understanding of cultural trauma within the Tamil community.
  3. Familiarity with mental health and trauma related terminology and concepts related to survivors of childhood sexual abuse and those impacted from the Tamil diaspora.
